Daytona Porsche 963 GTP Track Guide: Official Baseline Data

This guide is built from the exact Valor Official Baseline for Daytona International Speedway — Road Course + Porsche 963 GTP. It is not a generic track description and it is not reconstructed from internet braking markers. The numbers below come from the canonical baseline CSV, the reviewed Valor corner map and the corresponding turn profile in the August 16 data pack.

Turn numbering follows Valor's reviewed map for this exact layout. Baseline speed is converted from the recorded meters-per-second trace to mph. Brake and throttle are the recorded 0–100% channels. Conditions, setup, fuel, tire state and driving line can move the exact targets, so use the data as a measured reference rather than a command to copy blindly.

The integrated time is calculated from the reference trace's recorded position and speed because the distributed baseline CSV does not contain the simulator's lap-clock channel. Treat it as a telemetry-derived reference time, not an official iRacing timing result.

What the baseline says about this combination

This reference is built around huge speed-range changes. The trace reaches just over 201 mph, yet several mapped corners fall into the 50–65 mph range. The car therefore asks for both prototype-level commitment and disciplined low-speed exits.

Turn 1 is the largest speed reduction: roughly 201.4 mph at brake onset to 64.7 mph. Turn 6 drops from about 166.8 to 50.1 mph, and Turn 9 sheds speed from about 197.4 to 121.4 mph.

Not every fast section needs a pedal correction. Half of the 12 mapped turns show no meaningful brake input. Turn 7 is the biggest power-patience example: the reference takes roughly 55 m after minimum speed to reach full throttle, so forcing power too early there is contrary to the actual reference trace.

Turn-by-turn baseline guide

Turn 1 — left

This is a firm controlled braking zone. The baseline begins the brake event at roughly 201.4 mph, peaks at 46.6% brake, reaches about 64.7 mph in gear 2, and exits the mapped segment around 73.0 mph. Brake release is complete roughly 9 m before the minimum-speed point, so the reference finishes most of the deceleration before the slowest point rather than dragging brake deep into it.

Turn 2 — right

The reference uses no meaningful brake input here. It carries about 105.6 mph at minimum speed in gear 3 and builds to about 119.9 mph by the mapped exit. If your trace shows a clear brake spike here, first check line, steering load and whether the previous corner has left the car out of position.

Turn 3 — left

The reference uses no meaningful brake input here. It carries about 124.2 mph at minimum speed in gear 4 and builds to about 137.6 mph by the mapped exit. This is a placement-and-confidence corner: an unnecessary lift or brake event costs speed through the following section.

Turn 4 — right

This is a firm controlled braking zone. The baseline begins the brake event at roughly 145.2 mph, peaks at 48.2% brake, reaches about 138.5 mph in gear 5, and exits the mapped segment around 145.2 mph. Full throttle follows almost immediately after minimum speed; getting the car pointed early is central to the exit.

Turn 5 — left

The reference uses no meaningful brake input here. It carries about 149.7 mph at minimum speed in gear 5 and builds to about 165.3 mph by the mapped exit. This is a placement-and-confidence corner: an unnecessary lift or brake event costs speed through the following section.

Turn 6 — left

This is a firm controlled braking zone. The baseline begins the brake event at roughly 166.8 mph, peaks at 51.0% brake, reaches about 50.1 mph in gear 2, and exits the mapped segment around 100.9 mph. Brake release is complete roughly 31 m before the minimum-speed point, so the reference finishes most of the deceleration before the slowest point rather than dragging brake deep into it. The reference waits about 28 m after minimum speed before reaching full throttle. Do not force the power phase before the car is ready.

Turn 7 — left

This is a firm controlled braking zone. The baseline begins the brake event at roughly 134.3 mph, peaks at 57.8% brake, reaches about 61.1 mph in gear 2, and exits the mapped segment around 104.8 mph. Brake release is complete roughly 21 m before the minimum-speed point, so the reference finishes most of the deceleration before the slowest point rather than dragging brake deep into it. The reference waits about 55 m after minimum speed before reaching full throttle. Do not force the power phase before the car is ready.

Turn 8 — left

The reference uses no meaningful brake input here. It carries about 105.0 mph at minimum speed in gear 3 and builds to about 189.9 mph by the mapped exit. If your trace shows a clear brake spike here, first check line, steering load and whether the previous corner has left the car out of position.

Turn 9 — left

This is a firm controlled braking zone. The baseline begins the brake event at roughly 197.4 mph, peaks at 60.5% brake, reaches about 121.4 mph in gear 4, and exits the mapped segment around 121.4 mph. Brake release finishes essentially at the minimum-speed point, so braking and rotation are tightly linked.

Turn 10 — right

This is a speed-management braking zone. The baseline begins the brake event at roughly 115.9 mph, peaks at 31.0% brake, reaches about 114.9 mph in gear 3, and exits the mapped segment around 114.9 mph.

Turn 11 — left

The reference uses no meaningful brake input here. It carries about 102.6 mph at minimum speed in gear 3 and builds to about 110.2 mph by the mapped exit. If your trace shows a clear brake spike here, first check line, steering load and whether the previous corner has left the car out of position.

Turn 12 — left

The reference uses no meaningful brake input here. It carries about 140.9 mph at minimum speed in gear 4 and builds to about 193.4 mph by the mapped exit. This is a placement-and-confidence corner: an unnecessary lift or brake event costs speed through the following section.

How to use this guide in Valor

The fastest way to use these numbers is not to memorize every speed before you drive. Pick one corner, complete a clean lap, and compare the trace.

If your minimum speed is lower than the reference, look backward at brake timing, release shape and steering load before assuming the solution is simply to enter faster. If your minimum speed is close but exit speed is weak, inspect throttle timing and how much steering remains when power is applied. If you are braking in a reference no-brake section, determine whether the problem actually began in the previous corner.
